Four years later Big Bug, his Netflix fantasy not really well received, the French director returns to cinemas with Change the flower wateradaptation of the eponymous novel by Valérie Perrin, supported by a particularly prestigious cast: Leïla Bekhti will play a cemetery guardian opposite Matthias Schoenaerts, Melvil Poupaud, Anouk Grinberg, Sergio Castellitto, Alban Lenoir and Elodie Batard Gaultier.
The film takes us to Burgundy, to this small cemetery where Violette, a woman in her forties who is responsible for guarding the place, works. “His daily life is punctuated by the confidences of people passing through or regulars of the place, who come to find a little comfort in his dressing room. One day, she receives a visit from a police officer, Julien Seul, who has come to place her mother’s ashes on the grave of the man she loved. Intrigued by the story of Violette, whose husband mysteriously disappeared shortly after their arrival at the cemetery, he decides to investigate, unintentionally bringing to the surface painful memories as well as saving truths for Violette” details the synopsis.
A story between drama, mystery and emotion, which seems perfectly cut for the unique universe of Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
