Kobe Bryant will be entitled to his biopic. According to VarietyStudio Warner Bros. has acquired an original script inspired by the true story of the arrival of the legend of Los Angeles Lakers.
The project comes from the writers Alex Sohn and Gavin Johannsen. The script had aroused the interest of several studios and platforms, but Warner short-circuited any auction by winning it very early. The provisional title of the film is With the 8th Pick?which refers to the 1996 draft. Except that Bryant had not been selected in 8th position at the 1996 Draft NBA, but in 13th by the Charlotte Hornets, who immediately exchanged it to the Lakers against Vlade Divac. It was the New Jersey Nets, with their general manager John Nash, who held the 8th choice. Nash later admitted that he wanted Bryant, but had been disowned by his coach of the time, John Calipari.
