The New Dexter Is Here: Trailer for 'Original Sin' Prequel Series

Bad surprise, Dexter is canceled!

Paramount backtrack. Renewed last spring for a season 2, the prequel series on “The origins” of the serial killer is finally put on the closet.

It is a twist that even Dexter Morgan could not have seen coming.

Paramount and his Showtime channel have just canceled Dexter: the origins (original sin) the prequel variant of the franchise, which showed Patrick Gibson in the role of the Harry’s adoptive son, telling his first acts to the act in the 1991 Miami.

The surprise comes from the fact that the series was renewed for a season 2, initially. Last spring, Showtime announced a sequel to Dexter: the origins, but the group changed his mind. According to Variety, the series was actually “in hiatus” and no concrete filming plan had yet been planned.

So why did you unplug the young Dexter?

No official reason has been given, but you must certainly look at the quality of the series. This very redundant prequel did not receive good criticism. In any case, he seriously pays the comparison with the excellent Dexter: Resurrection, currently underway, and acclaimed by the press and the public.

Thus, a source cited by Variety explains that the president of Skydance Television, Matt Thunanel, decided to concentrate his efforts on Dexter: Resurrection and the character of Michael C. Hall, following the behind the scenes of the Skydance and Paramount studios. The young Dexter was likely to parasitize the old man. There could only be one.

Consequently, Original Sin will conclude after a single season, broadcast between December 2024 and February 2025.

Conversely, we understand that Paramount intends to continue with Michael C. Hall and the writing of season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection should even start very soon.
