Ralph Fiennes Dominates in New Hunger Games: Harvest Sunrise Trailer

He will be President Snow of Panem opposite Joseph Zada, who will step into the shoes of young Haymitch Abernathy.

And we go back to Panem.

The saga is not over and Lionsgate has just released the trailer for Hunger Games: Sunrise over the Harvestnew prequel chapter, adapted from the novel by Suzanne Collins (published in 2025).

The story takes place 24 years before the events of Hunger Games by Jennifer Lawrence. We follow Haymitch Abernathy, future mentor of Katniss Everdeen and winner of District 12, from the morning of the Harvest of the 50th Hunger Games. This edition marks Panem’s second Quarter Quell: every 25 years, the rules are doubled, and each district must send twice as much tribute to the Capitol. Instead of 24 children, 48 young people are sent into the arena to kill each other!

The new video reveals an atmosphere that is as exhilarating as ever, inside and outside the arena. It is Joseph Zada who will step into the shoes of young Haymitch (played by the older Woody Harrelson). But we will especially focus on the incarnation of the famous President Snow by Ralph Fiennes. The legendary Voldemort, absolutely brilliant at the start of the year in 28 Years Later: Time of the Dead, will make a creepier tyrant than ever, after having been played by Donald Sutherland (in the original quadrilogy) and Tom Blyth (in the prequel The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird).

Alongside him, we will also note the flamboyant presence of Elle Fanning in the role of young Effie Trinket and Kieran Culkin as young Caesar Flickerman, the host of the games. And then Jesse Plemons will play a young Plutarch Heavensbee and Glenn Close will be Drusilla Sickle (the head of District 12). Faced with all these beautiful people, Joseph Zada, a largely unknown young Australian, will perhaps have difficulty existing, especially since we will also meet during this 50th edition Mckenna Grace (Maysilee Donner) and Maya Hawke (a young Wiress) of Stranger Things

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the film is written by Billy Ray and produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, alongside the director.

Hunger Games: Sunrise over the Harvest will be released in theaters on November 18 in France.
