Goldie Hawn wants to come out of retirement but can’t find any “interesting” roles
The 80-year-old actress hasn’t filmed anything since 2020…
Absent from screens since The Christmas Chronicles (in 2020) – where she supported her husband Kurt Russell – Goldie Hawn never really decided to stop her career.
The problem lies elsewhere: the roles he is offered are simply not up to par.
In an interview with Peoplethe Oscar-winning actress (for Cactus flower in 1969). is clear:
“It’s all about content. Playing for the sake of playing…that doesn’t interest me. I read a lot of projects, a lot of scripts that I didn’t like or that I didn’t see myself in..”
A luxury that she can afford after a busy career: “I’ve already done this job, I’ve had a wonderful career, and I want to honor that.”
But the desire is still there for the actress who has just celebrated her 80th birthday. Provided you find the right project:
“I would love to land a role that makes me say, ‘Oh my God, I absolutely want that. It’s so funny, so crazy, so interesting.’ But that hasn’t happened in recent years…”
And she specifies: “If someone comes along with a really great, funny script… that would be great.”
For the moment, no returns have been made. But one idea particularly appealed to her: playing alongside her daughter, Kate Hudson: “I would love to. We both thought about it a lot.”
This is not the first time that Goldie Hawn has stayed away from the sets: she had already taken a 15-year break between Sixties sex fans with Susan Sarandon (2002) and Snatched (2017) with Amy Schumer. The difference today? She doesn’t want to come back at any cost.
