First images of Tom Hardy returning to MobLand

Tom Hardy got fired from MobLand!

The actor is not expected to return for season 3 after behind-the-scenes tensions.

Thunderbolt in the world of MobLand.

According to several sources cited by the American media, Tom Hardy will leave the British mafia series from Paramount+ (also visible in France via MyCanal) at the end of season 2. He will not be recalled for season 3.

Information which has not yet been made official by the platform, but which seems to be confirmed. According to Variety, production of season 2 has already been completed since last March… and the actor simply would not have been invited to continue the adventure. At issue: strong tensions behind the scenes between Tom Hardy, executive producer Jez Butterworth, the studio 101 Studios and several members of the creative team.

The media Puck News claims in particular that the actor would have regularly accumulated delays on filming, while seeking to modify certain dialogues and scripts. But above all, Tom Hardy would have had a hard time seeing the series gradually begin to refocus on other characters in the huge cast.

Still according to the same sources, the atmosphere became so tense that Jez Butterworth even threatened to leave the series.

No season 3 has yet been officially ordered, but the massive success of MobLand on Paramount+ makes its renewal almost inevitable. It now remains to be seen how the series could get rid of Harry Da Souza, fixing him played by Tom Hardy since the launch, the central character of the series, who gives MobLand all its interest. It’s hard to see how she could continue for long without him.

MobLand, created by Ronan Bennett, follows the affairs of the Harrigan mafia family, led by Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, as well as Paddy Considine as their son. Launched last spring, the excellent crime series quickly became the second most watched fiction in the history of Paramount+.

Season 2 is expected by the end of the year on Paramount+.
