After Severance, Ben Stiller will star in a new Apple series

He will be a fallen billionaire, accused of a gigantic fraud, in a new comedy imagined by the creator of King of the Hill and Silicon Valley, Mike Judge.

While waiting to find Ben Stiller opposite Ariana Grande in My Stepfather, My Stepdaughter and Me, the Zoolander actor will return to the Apple platform. But this time, in front of the camera!

The director of Severance will play the lead role in Protective Custody, a new series produced for Apple TV and imagined by the creator of King of the Hill and Silicon Valley, Mike Judge.

According to information from Deadline, Ben Stiller will play a fallen billionaire, accused of a gigantic financial fraud and placed under protection in prison while awaiting his trial. The pitch promises a mix of satire, absurd comedy and ego warfare behind bars, as his character will have to navigate between clans of inmates, try to save his reputation… and face the consequences of his actions.

The project will mark only Ben Stiller’s second major television role, after The Off Weeks, another Apple series with Jessica Chastain, which he has just filmed.

Creator Mike Judge remains one of the great specialists in American satire, having signed Silicon Valley, King of the Hill and Beavis and Butt-Head. According to Deadline, Protective Custody was intended as a cross between Papa Schultz and The Office. Quite a program.

In addition to writing and supervising the series, Mike Judge will direct several episodes.

No release date has been announced yet. But between Severance, The Off Weeks and now Protective Custody, Ben Stiller seems linked to Apple for a while.
