Found guilty on France 2: Tahar Rahim’s best role since A Prophet (review)

The French actor impresses in front of the camera of the director of The Last King of Scotland.

Designated Guilty is broadcast this Sunday evening on France 2, and will be available for free streaming the next day on the France Télévisions website. Première recommends this drama inspired by a true story, carried by Tahar Rahim and Jodie Foster who received the Golden Globe for best supporting actress for her performance as the lawyer of a Mauritanian sent to Guantanamo. Our review:

Because he received a call on his cell phone from a cousin (one of the organizers of September 11), a young Mauritanian is kidnapped by the FBI, tortured and imprisoned in Guantanamo without charge or trial. When the American state decides to send him to the electric chair, a seasoned lawyer, Nancy Hollander, chooses to take his defense in hand. Inspired by the true story of Mohamedou Ould Slahi, Designated Guilty is an old-fashioned legal thriller reminiscent of all the classics of the genre.
