Robert Pattinson annoyed by criticism of his Batman physique

“I worked out every fucking day. Even after that, I still looked like I hadn’t worked out…”

Too scrawny to be the Dark Knight?

While The Batman: Part II is preparing to go on film, Robert Pattinson, the interpreter of Bruce Wayne, returns to the criticism he suffered for the first part, reports GQ magazine.

The actor doubled down on his bodybuilding routine after some viewers criticized his underwhelming superhero physique:

“I worked out every fucking day. Even after that, I still looked like I hadn’t worked out… I worked out twice a day, like 3 a.m…. The thing is, I once said in an interview that I didn’t like going to the gym and it backfired. I was just trying to look cool…”

This time, Robert Pattinson installed a gym at his home to prepare for the second part. The Englishman currently rents a house in Beverly Hills with his partner Suki Waterhouse and their two-year-old daughter. He set up a gym especially to prepare for filming. But the physical preparation of the former Twilight star is not easy, as the production schedule has been strewn with pitfalls and constantly postponed. Robert Pattinson had to fill the void by making several films in quick succession.

I said to myself: well, I’m going to do another one in the meantime… And ultimately, I shot an incredible number of films between The Batman and The Batman II…

The Batman: Part II will once again be directed by Matt Reeves.

Alongside Robert Pattinson, we will find Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano (already present in the first part) but also Sebastian Stan in the role of Harvey Dent and Scarlett Johansson in that of his wife.

Training for this second Batman opus was surely easier for the star of Twilight after the filming of The Odyssey. Indeed, the filming location required the cast and crew to walk a path 900 feet in the air every day: “(…) I have never seen people look so exhausted. And that was only a third of the way.”

Pattinson also revealed that filming for The Batman would take place over 11 weeks and at night: “Oh 11 days of night. I said to myself, ‘Excuse me?’ And then: ‘No one sent me a schedule‘”, joked the comedian.
