He said he didn’t want todie on a platter“. But for Oliver Stone, he wants to tempt the Devil…
After announcing a form of retirement, Michael Douglas finally returns to service. The 81-year-old American actor joins Oliver Stone’s new film, titled White Liesaccording to Variety.
Douglas recently explained that he had “no real intention of coming back quickly” after having been away from the sets since 2022, after almost 60 years of career.
But for the filmmaker who made him a star, he’s willing to make an effort. White Lies will indeed mark his reunion with Oliver Stone, more than fifteen years later Wall Street: Money never sleeps (2010), sequel to the classic Wall Street (1987) for which Douglas won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
The film is led by Josh Hartnett and will also feature Willem Dafoe, Ellen Barkin and Homer Gere.
Filming has already been completed and took place between Europe and Asia. “This team was a real treat from start to finish. And the Italian team was the warmest I have ever worked with. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity,” Stone said in a statement. He signs his first feature film since Snowden in 2016.
What is it about? According to Oliver Stone, the project is a “personal story about people and their relationships, an intimate and poignant drama that explores family, loss, pain and reveals how love can transform over the course of a lifetime.” White Lies will follow Jack Freeman (Hartnett), a child of divorced parents, who “reproduces her parents’ mistakes in her own marriage and with her own children. He embarks on a passionate quest to escape his situation, only to find himself more lost than ever…”
