Ricky Gervais is a cat in Alley Cats: trailer for the Netflix cartoon

A new Netflix cartoon coming out this summer.

After the tender and melancholic After Life, it’s the return of Ricky Gervais to Netflix. But in an unexpected form: the British comedian has created a crazy cartoon, in which he voices a cat!

In Alley Cats, he plays Gus, a big, cynical and disillusioned alley cat, who leads a band of wild cats, each one more crude than the last, who sow chaos while pondering the meaning of life and fighting to survive in a merciless human world.

The trailer (to be seen in original version above and in French below) already promises to bring back Gervais’ scathing humor, based on “Fucking Hell” and other very sloppy lines. The cartoon – obviously intended for adults – is made up of six parts. And we already understand that the series will have fun taking up all the clichés about cats and then using felines as vectors to say outrageous things, to philosophize, to think about the world and simply about life.

Alley Cats will be released on August 7 in France on Netflix.
