Angoulême 2026: Ask for the program!
The French-speaking film festival, which will open on August 24 and close on August 29 with the preview screening of the feature film Dix pour cent, unveiled its rich selection this morning.
This morning, in the premises of the Embassy of Cambodia (a French-speaking country in the spotlight this year, notably with the screening of several films by Rithy Pan), Marie-France Brière and Dominique Besnehard lifted the veil on the selection and programming of the 19th edition of the Angoulême French-speaking film festival. And we already know that the event will open and close in style. August 24 is Neither seen nor known by Marc Fitoussi (in theaters October 7) which will launch the festivities. A comedy centered on an extra running around filming in the hope of being noticed, played by Isabelle Huppert opposite numerous actors and directors in their own roles, from Sandrine Kiberlain to Emmanuelle Bercot via Vincent Dedienne and Anne Marivin. We wish him the same career in theaters as the comedy which opened Angoulême 2025 – already with Isabelle Huppert: The richest woman in the world by Thierry Klifa
And to close, on August 29, this week of French-speaking cinema, its organizers will offer the present public (with an unrivaled price of 25 euros, the book of 10 tickets, non-nominative) a world preview: Ten percent, the extension of the series in film version where we will find almost all of its protagonists six years after the end of the third season which saw the closure of the ASK agency. Directed by Emilie Noblet, Ten percent will be available on Netflix on September 10
Franck Dubosc, president of the Jury
Between these two dates, ten feature films will compete for the Valois race – won last year by The children are fine by Nathan Ambrosioni – with Franck Dubosc as jury president A competition which has offered a real spotlight and a launching pad in recent years to On a bicycle or even Muganga. And which brings together this year some films seen and loved at Cannes (If you think well by Géraldine Nakache, Congo boy, Sanguine, La Frappe or the Camera d’Or Ben’Imana) but also many new releases, including the highly anticipated new Gustave Kervern, That’s it, it’s overwho has just received the Jean Vigo Prize
The new Jean-Pierre Jeunet in preview
Like every year, the Angoulême festival will offer, outside of competition, throughout its different sections, numerous other previews, at the top of which, a real big deal: the very first screening of Change the flower waterthe new Jean-Pierre Jeunet, adapted from the best-seller by Valérie Perrin with Leïla Bekhti, expected in theaters on December 9. But we will also take a special look at Camembert (with Kristin Scott-Thomas, Alex Lutz, Anaïde Rozam…) comedy centered around a very agitated part of Trivial Pursuit, Top of the pile by Louis-Julien Petit with Anthony Bajon where GPA will be discussed, My son Presidentthe new Mathias Mlekutz after On a bicycle! or the first major film role of Eddy de Pretto in Vigilant by Olivier Pairoux.
Tribute(s) to Nathalie Baye
Finally, Angoulême also likes to look in the rearview mirror and allow us to see or rewatch films from yesterday or the day before yesterday, sometimes unjustly forgotten. The 2026 edition will thus offer a spotlight on the distribution company KMBO through half a dozen films or even on the filmmaker Jean Marbeuf, the director among others of a Petain (1993) with Jacques Dufilho in the title role opposite Jean Yanne/Laval which will be screened for the occasion. But the most beautiful tribute of this 19th Angoulême French-speaking cinema festival will be for an actress who was a great devotee and even one of the first presidents of the jury in 2010: Nathalie Baye. A place will be inaugurated in his name alongside a look back at his career, with the great idea of focusing on his films and his roles less known to the general public, starting with A pornographic affair by Frédéric Fonteyne which won him the prize for interpretation in Venice in 1999.
