De la Comédie-Française succeeds in its premiere at the French box office
The film by Martin Darondeau and Bertrand Usclat already has almost 100,000 admissions after just one day in French cinemas.
It was one of the most anticipated films of this summer 2026.
Winner of four prizes at the Alpe d’Huez Festival and supported by very good reviews, From the Comédie-Française achieved an excellent launch in French cinemas.
Carried by Pauline Clément and Guillaume Gallienne, the farce making fun of the famous theatrical institution takes the lead in the new release box office with 47,046 admissions in 426 theaters, a very solid average of 110 spectators per print. By adding the 45,241 admissions made during previews, the film is already approaching 100,000 spectators on its first day of release (92,287 admissions exactly).
The film is well on its way to establishing itself as the successful French holiday comedy.
Behind, the other outings of the week are far away.
Charlie and the Kangaroos (Studiocanal) debuts in second place with 10,124 entries in 440 theaters (23 entries per copy), to which are added 1,446 preview entries, for a total of 11,570 spectators.
The podium is completed by Golo & Ritchie’s Vacation (Apollo Films), which attracts 8,017 spectators in 249 cinemas, an average of 32 admissions per theater. With 3,252 preview admissions, the film has sold 11,269 tickets.
