An avalanche of stars in the trailer for the new Wes Anderson

Led by Benicio Del Toro, the cast of The Phoenician Scheme should climb the steps of the Cannes Film Festival next May.

We don’t stop Wes Anderson. Two years after his last feature film, Asteroid Citythe Texan director is already back with a new film, The Phoenician Scheme. In the meantime, he had even released a series of short films adapted from Roald Dahl on Netflix, winning the first personal Oscar of his career.

The trailer of The Phoenician Scheme has just been revealed, and it’s pure Anderson juice. The colors, the typo, the framing, the assembly … The director remains terribly faithful to the aesthetic codes which made his renown. At the risk of being a caricature of himself with his ultra identified and easily reproducible style whose Tiktors had made a trend in 2023 (to the chagrin of the interested party).

The form is so omnipresent in Wes Anderson, which we almost forget the bottom. The Phoenician Scheme Tells a foggy family intrigue around a wealthy European businessman who multiplies plane accidents, Anatole “ZSA-ZSA” Korda (Benicio Del Toro). Mia Threapleton (the daughter of Kate Winslet) plays one of her ten children, a nun, and Michael cera their tutor.

A sublimate of stars (Tom Hanks, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Jeffrey Wright, Benedict Cumberbatch…) Jostle in this chaotic trailer, which makes fear a possibly damn choral film, in the line of The French Dispatch And Asteroid City. But Anderson assured that the film would be centered on Benicio Del Toro and that it would be omnipresent on the screen, which is rather reassuring.

This casting XXL should logically meet on the Croisette next May. We will have confirmation Thursday with the announcement of the official selection of Cannes 2025 by Thierry Frémaux. The Phoenician Scheme will be released in France on May 28, a few days after the end of the festival. Trailer:
