Ryan Gosling finally draws his Starfighter: the first images of the new Star Wars revealed
His name is Kade Auberon, he has an old Imperial fighter and the head of Ryan Gosling. D23 finally showed the first images of Star Wars: Starfighter, the film by Shawn Levy.
From Marvel to Star Wars, there’s only one step, especially when both films are directed by Shawn Levy. Barely announced as Ghost Rider in the MCU, Ryan Gosling is riding another type of car in Star Wars: Starfighter. Is Gosling, revealed in the Mickey Mouse Club, establishing himself as the total Disney man?
But it was normal after all: he had driven a space shuttle in First Man and the pink Corvette in barbie. It was therefore logical that someone would end up entrusting him with the controls of an Imperial fighter.
Disney therefore took advantage of D23 to unveil the very first images of Star Wars: Starfighterthe next film in the saga directed by Shawn Levy (Deadpool & Wolverine). And above all to finally reveal the name of the hero played by Gosling: Kade Auberon.
A name that fits the Star Wars universe quite well. It sounds both like the name of a forgotten Jedi knight and also like a new range of cereals! Ideal. But the best thing is that we know a little more about his character. Because Gosling and his co-actor Flynn Gray were on stage to provide some information.
Ryan Gosling is Kade Auberon.

The teaser, not yet posted online and much commented on on the internet, opens with the character of Flynn Gray, who discovers an old ship under a tarpaulin. But Kade forbids him to touch it: it is an old Imperial model, withdrawn from circulation. Important clarification: according to Kade it is above all the “fastest ever built”.
From there, no need to draw a picture… you know what will happen to this ship.
The images follow sequences of repairs of the car and pieces of action, including flights at water level and quite a bit of piloting. Gosling also clarified that his character comes from “the wrong side of the galaxy.” But perhaps the most interesting thing remains what Starfighter will not be. The film takes place five years later The Rise of Skywalker and thus becomes the first film to project itself beyond the last trilogy. No prequel intended to fill the holes in the timeline, no direct sequel: Shawn Levy wants to tell an autonomous story with new characters.
And after years of watching Star Wars methodically explore every corner between The Phantom Menace And Return of the Jedithe idea of just going to see what happens next and elsewhere is a bit exciting.
We have known since the start of filming, around Gosling and Flynn Gray, Lucasfilm has also assembled an attractive cast since Amy Adams, Matt Smith, Mia Goth, Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman and Daniel Ings will be on the trip.
One essential question remains: does Kade Auberon know how to use the Force? For now, Lucasfilm is carefully hiding the answer.
Star Wars: Starfighter will be released on May 28, 2027 in the United States, almost fifty years to the day after the release of the first Star Wars.
