Who plays the new Dorothy of Oz in Wicked 2?

Bethany Weaver reveals her face on the “yellow brick road.”

We finally know the face of the new Dorothy Gale.

A week after the theatrical release of Wicked 2the event sequel to Jon M. Chu’s mega-musical, actress Bethany Weaver reveals that it is she who is taking over the iconic role created by Judy Garland in 1939. Her face hidden on screen – the production had kept her identity secret – Weaver took advantage of the film’s record opening weekend to reveal herself on Instagram. She posts these photos of Dorothy in Oz and writes:

“This experience changed me for life…and above all, for good. It is an honor to carry on the legacy of these brilliant women who stepped into these shoes before me and walked the yellow brick road. I hope I made them proud. Thank you for the love, messages and support. I love you all.”

But who is Bethany Weaver?

The 30-year-old Englishwoman, from Surrey, studied acting at the Guildford School of Acting, before pursuing training in dance and musical theater at The Urdang Academy. A seasoned stage actress, she has already performed three times in the West End. She was notably part of all the productions Oklahoma!, Rumi the Musical, Broken Wings the Musical and several other shows. Bethany also teaches dance and pilates.
