Trailer: the terrifying Paolo arrives on HBO Max

Jérôme Niel transforms into an ordinary man caught up in an increasingly worrying obsession in this new French thriller by Sébastien Marnier.

Jérôme Niel more worrying than ever!

Paolo’s life changes when he meets Téophane, a former school friend who has become a candidate for mayor of his town. Initially driven by simple admiration and the desire to support his campaign, Paolo will gradually allow himself to be devoured by an uncontrollable obsession.

According to HBO Max, Paolo “immerses us in the closed universe of a small provincial town in full turmoil, where desire, transgressions, class anxieties and pretenses collide. Captivating face to face between Jérôme Niel, moving as Paolo, an ordinary man caught in an infernal mechanism, and Yoann Gasiorowski from the Comédie-Française, magnetic as Téophane, incarnation of such a brilliant success only ambiguous.”

They are surrounded by Magalie Lépine-Blondeau, Marie Oppert, Léo Chalié, Véronique Ruggia, Guslagie Malanda, Salif Cissé and Françoise Lebrun, as well as Léa Lopez, Philippe Katerine, Guilaine Londez, David Ayala and Cyril Metzger.

Created, written and directed by Sébastien Marnier, to whom we notably owe Irréprochable, The Origin of Evil and Children Are Kings, the series has 7 episodes, co-written with Juliette Soubrier.
