A new Pokémon film announced for 2027

It’s official: Pokémon will once again invade movie theaters.
Announced during the closing ceremony of the Pokémon World Championships 2026, held in San Francisco, Pokémon: Wild Card will be released worldwide in 2027.
A short teaser was immediately revealed. We discover a player of the famous collectible card game, dressed in a yellow hoodie, as well as Mimikyu, the Ghost/Fairy Pokémon that appeared for the first time in the games Pokémon Sun And Pokémon Moon.
Mimikyu is notably known for disguising himself as Pikachu, the franchise’s mascot, by wearing a piece of yellow fabric. His true appearance remains deliberately concealed.
The realization of Pokémon: Wild Card will be provided by Katsuhiko Kitada, who notably worked on The First Slam Dunk, Attack on Titan And Naruto: Shippuden.
Akemi Hayashi will handle character design, while the film will be produced by CloverWorks, the studio behind Spy x Family And Bocchi the Rock!.
This will be the first film Pokémon Since Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Junglereleased in 2020 in Japan then in 2021 on Netflix in the rest of the world. The last Pokémon feature film to benefit from an international cinema release remains Pokémon the Movie: The Power is Within Usin 2018, distributed on a limited basis outside Japan.
The announcement of this feature film coincides with the anniversary of the franchise, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2026, and with the release of the titles Pokémon Winds And Pokémon Wavesthe two new games that will launch the tenth generation.
