France 2 and Prime Video announce a major series around the Tour de France with Joséphine Japy

The opportunity, perhaps, to see a Frenchman raise his arms on the podium of the Champs-Élysées?

After the success of the immersive docu-series, Au coeur du peloton, on Netflix, we are getting back on the wheel of the Tour de France, in a French fiction imagined around the Grande Boucle.

France Télévisions announces a new event series entitled Tour de France, made up of six episodes and which will feature Joséphine Japy as the boss of a French team on the roads of France in the middle of July.

Julien Frison, Félix Lefebvre and Jonathan Zaccaï will also be part of the caravan, with broadcast planned for 2027 on Prime Video first, then on France Télévisions.

Produced by Federation Studio France in association with Prime Video, the series is currently filming. Shooting takes place from August 27 to November 18, between Île-de-France, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and Spain. Prime Video will benefit from the first broadcast window before subsequent programming on France Télévisions.

The series is produced by Jean-Baptiste Pouilloux and Frédéric Jardin, based on an original idea by Louis Leterrier. It is created by Alexandre Delaporte and Grégory Nicolas.

So what will it be about?

“When Nora (Joséphine Japy), a formidable businesswoman, buys Deepblue, a French cycling team on the verge of disappearance, she believes she can impose her methods on the peloton. But on the Tour de France, between Mathias (Julien Frison), an injured former star who refuses to disappear, and Ayden (Félix Lefebvre), a young prodigy who comes out of nowhere and who becomes the hope that all of France was waiting for, she discovers that a team is built through suffering and sacrifice. To win, everyone will have to give up their personal ambitions and learn to trust so that the collective triumphs,” details the synopsis.

A bit like F1 with Brad Pitt having fun playing in a Formula 1 team, Tour de France intends to mix sport, ambition and human drama, by diving behind the scenes of a cycling team engaged in the biggest race in the world. And, perhaps, finally make a Frenchman win at the finish.
