Neagley: Reacher spin-off will have a season 2
After attracting 40 million viewers in just thirteen days, Neagley will return to Prime Video for a second season.
Amazon continues to expand the Reacher universe. The platform has just renewed Neagley, the spin-off dedicated to the character of Frances Neagley, played by Maria Sten, for a season 2.
Launched on September 16, the same day as the finale of season 4 of Reacher, the series attracted 40 million spectators in its first thirteen days according to Amazon. The platform specifies that Neagley represents the fourth best launch of an original series in the history of Prime Video, with 52% of its audience recorded internationally. Amazon does not, however, specify how it calculates this “viewer” figure.
In the series, Frances Neagley is a former protégé of Jack Reacher in the army, who became a private detective. When a close friend from her past dies in a suspicious accident, she decides to conduct her own investigation and bring justice.
Maria Sten will obviously reprise the role in this second season, still produced by Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton.
Peter Friedlander, head of global television at Amazon MGM Studios, praises Maria Sten for delivering “a powerful and nuanced performance” and looks forward to continuing Neagley’s story with the teams.
This renewal comes just days after the announcement of season 6 of Reacher, while season 5 is still in production. The universe of Jack Reacher is therefore clearly not about to disappear from Prime Video.
