David Ellison therefore wasted no time in putting his company’s name on one of the Hollywood studio’s best-known symbols.
And this change is not really a surprise. When Skydance Media finalized its takeover of Paramount in August 2025, the water tower at the Paramount studio in Hollywood was also modified to display the same words: “A Skydance Corporation”.
The new group resulting from the merger between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery will in fact bear the name Skydance, that of the production company he founded in 2006.
The new giant now brings together the two studios, but also channels like CBS, CNN, Comedy Central, MTV and TNT, as well as the Paramount+ and HBO Max platforms. Skydance projects nearly $70 billion in annual revenue, but will also have to manage about $80 billion in net debt.
