Fallout season 2: the ending explained (and what it means for season 3)

Fallout Season 3 will cost a lot more

Amazon has reportedly budgeted $166.3 million for the upcoming season. To finance even more spectacular scenes?

The end of the world is expensive.

According to the updated list of projects approved under the California Film and Television Tax Credit Program, Fallout Season 3 is set to get a serious financial boost. Amazon reportedly budgeted $166.3 million to produce the third season, with $42 million in tax credits.

If this figure – not made official by Prime Video – is confirmed, this would represent an increase of around 21% compared to the budget for season 2. Fallout would thus become even more Amazon’s most expensive production in California. The previous season already had a budget of over $150 million to recreate the Wasteland and its inhabitants.

And this additional budget is rather good given the situation in which season 2 left the survivors. The finale, “The Strip,” brought several factions and storylines converging on New Vegas. Caesar’s Legion notably marched on the city to seize the Strip, led by the character played by Macaulay Culkin. Facing it, the New California Republic (NCR) positioned itself around New Vegas to try to defend the region.

But the real danger comes from the Enclave, revealed as the organization pulling the strings behind the apocalypse and Vault-Tec. Hank MacLean and Stephanie act on his behalf to launch Phase Two, which relies in particular on mind control chips and West-Tek’s forced evolution virus, the famous FEV.

Season 3 should therefore resume several of these intrigues. The Brotherhood of Steel could notably take control of Liberty Prime Alpha after recovering the plans for this super-powerful weapon. For his part, the Ghoul, still played by Walton Goggins, should head to Colorado in search of his family. Meanwhile, the Enclave prepares to officially implement its Phase Two.

Enough to justify a few XXL battles. For the moment, Prime Video has not announced any official release date for season 3 of Fallout, expected in 2027.
