Hope, Moulin, A few words of love: what’s new at the cinema this week

What to see in theaters

HOPE ★★★★☆

By Na Hong-Jin

The essentials

Ten years after The Strangers, Na Hong-jin returns with a wild alien invasion film. A viscous pleasureral de cinéma which mixes action, humor and terror. Excessive and perfectly jubilant.

Ten years we waited for news of Na Hong-jinwhich left us with the shock of The Strangers. We imagined a tortuous and poisonous return, but now it takes everyone by surprise with an alien invasion film built on speed and noise. The case begins in a small port town, where a mysterious creature ravages everything it comes across and sows death, while two cops and a few heavily armed residents try to kill it. Except that the creature takes almost everything, without flinching.… Masterful opening hour with its feet on the floor where the pieces of bravery follow one another, enjoyable, and each action sequence seems to want to pulverize the previous one.
