The director of Obsession wants to make a film with Nathan Fielder
Curry Barker liked You Can See Everything, the documentary film about Elizabeth Holmes, so much that he already proposed a collaboration to its director.
Curry Barker has found his next playing partner. Or, at least, he would like to.
The director of the phenomenon Obsession revealed to Varietyduring the Time100 Next gala organized Thursday evening in New York, that he had already expressed to Nathan Fielder his desire to collaborate with him.
For what ? Because You Can See Everythingobviously ! The three-hour film dedicated to Elizabeth Holmes, fallen Silicon Valley star now in prison, clearly had a big impact on Barker:
“I found it completely crazy and brilliant.”he confides. The filmmaker explains that he knew little about the story of the founder of Theranos before discovering the film, but that he would have happily spent even more time watching it:
“I feel like I missed a few little details, and yet You Can See Everything is three hours long…but I wish it was even longer. It’s rare, you know?”
And he didn’t wait to try his luck with Fielder:
“I told him I loved it. I said to him: ‘Hey! Would you like to… I just threw the idea like that, into the universe…“
It remains to be seen whether the director/actor will follow up on this invitation.
There is nothing incongruous about the rapprochement between the two filmmakers. With ObsessionCurry Barker had also played with public expectations and the codes of genre cinema. You Can See Everythingfor its part, blurs the boundaries between fiction and documentary, to the point of shaking up industry habits. Two unique proposals which question, each in their own way, what can still surprise spectators, especially the youngest.
While waiting for a possible collaboration with Nathan Fielder, the filmmaker has released a short film online for Halloween and is already preparing his next film. Titled Anything But Ghostsit is expected in American theaters on May 7, 2027. You Can See Everything will be released in France in theaters on December 30.
