Campus Drivers on Prime Video: “It was like summer camp”

Off Campus, Maxton Hall, The Summer I Became Pretty: there are countless adaptations from New Romance. Do you want more? That’s good, Prime Video is back this November 6 with the first season of Campus Drivers, a French university romance taken from the CS Quill phenomenon saga. For the occasion, Première met the great group of actors who make up the cast.

How do you prepare to play characters of whom readers have a very precise image in mind?

Carmen Kassovitz: With Baptiste, we read the first volume only after filming. Personally, I didn’t want to read it beforehand so as not to parasitize myself and lock myself into a certain idea of the character. But when we know that there is a fandom very involved in the saga, obviously that adds pressure!

Baptiste Masseline: Some modifications were made to the scenario. The first names of several characters are different and some affinities are not even in the book. If you mix everything up, you can quickly get lost. You have to focus on the storyline. On a shoot where we have one scene after another, we can’t afford to get lost in our imagination while reading the book.

Madior Fall: Especially since there will always be fans who have already imagined our character and who will have a very precise idea in mind, even visual. But as an actor, we can’t change our face. On the other hand, we can get as close as possible to the essence of the character.

Félix Nebe: We want to please everyone. And on the other hand, it’s impossible. So once we integrate this idea, it takes away a little stress.

Esteban Vial: Me, CS Quill told me: “You really shouldn’t miss out on the character of Lewis, because the fans have a lot of expectations. » But other than that, no pressure! (Laughs)
