Monster: The “real” Menendez brother furious with the Netflix series
From his cell where he is serving his life sentence, Erik Menendez attacks Ryan Murphy, whose work he considers “naive and inaccurate.”
They are already number 1 in France! Two days after its release on Netflix, season 2 of Monster doubled Emily in Paris and the mini-series A Perfect Couple. The history of Menendez brothers fascinates subscribers almost as much as that of Dahmer.
However, the version shown by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan would be largely bogus, if we are to believe one of the protagonists of the story, namely Erik Menendezone of the two murderous brothers. Sentenced to life in prison in 1996, he is currently serving his sentence with his brother Lyle in a penitentiary in San Diego, California. But from his cell, he sent his wife an official reaction to what he has been able to see on Netflix, like us, these days.
Tammi Menendez published on X a text written a priori by Erik Menendezwho complains about the treatment reserved for his brother, who is, it is true, considered the sociopath of the series:
“I thought we had moved past the lies and this disastrous portrayal of Lyle, creating a caricature of Lyle rooted in these horrible, blatant lies that are rife throughout the show. I can only believe they were done this way on purpose.

Then he addresses the creator of Monster : “It is with a heavy heart that I say that I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be so naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives to do this without ill intent. So now Murphy is crafting his horrific narrative through vile and appalling portrayals of Lyle and me and heartbreaking slander.”
Erik Menendez concludes: “Isn’t the truth enough? Let the truth be the truth…”
