A former Baywatch lifeguard will return in the new series

After swimming alongside David Hasselhoff in the 1990s, David Chokachi will dive again alongside a new generation.

A cult face from 90s TV returns to the beach.

The Baywatch reboot currently in production has just offered a nod to nostalgia by recalling a former emblematic rescuer from Baywatch: David Chokachi will reprise his role of Cody Madison, whom he already played in the original series (from season 6).

In this new version, he will opposite Stephen Amell, star of the project, chosen to play Hobie Buchanon, the son of the legendary lifeguard Mitch Buchanon.

Cody’s character has also evolved with age: he now runs The Shoreline, a bar and grill that has become the unofficial headquarters of the lifeguards, while still donning the red shorts from time to time to save lives. Mentor, loyal pal and official purveyor of free chicken wings after every heroic rescue, he will be the kind of local legend only written on hot sand.

Present in the original series until season 9, David Chokachi has never really left the sets since, notably working on DTV productions.

Its return therefore marks as much a nod to historic fans as a symbolic passing of the baton between generations of rescuers.

Stephen Amell and David Chokachi are the first cast names confirmed for the series. Around, the production wishes to introduce new faces, like Pamela Anderson, Yasmine Bleeth and Carmen Electra in the heyday. An audition open to the public is scheduled for February 18, while filming is scheduled to begin this spring in Los Angeles.

For now, the new series Baywatch has been officially signed for the 2026-2027 TV season with an order for 12 episodes. It should be broadcast from the end of the year on Fox in the United States (while waiting for a French broadcaster).
