After Andor, Diego Luna joins the live-action remake of Rapunzel

But who will play the Mexican actor in this new live-action Disney version?

Change of universe for Diego Luna.

Barely out of the adventure Andorthe Mexican actor remains at Disney but switches to another pillar of the studio by joining the live-action remake of Rapunzel (Tangled).

He will opposite Teagan Croft (Titans), Milo Manheim (Zombies) and Kathryn Hahn (The Studio) in this new adaptation of the animated classic released in 2010, itself inspired by the Brothers Grimm tale. As a reminder, the original animated film grossed more than $591 million worldwide and spawned a spinoff series on Disney Channel.

The role of Diego Luna still remains mysterious: he is a new character, specially created for this version. But in a universe where the heroine’s hair is central, we can already imagine that her character will not be insensitive to this detail…

Behind the camera, it will be Michael Gracey, the director of The Greatest Showmanwith a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson and Michael Montemayor. Production is by Kristin Burr.

Filming is due to begin in Spain in June, for a cinema release as yet undated.

In the meantime, Diego Luna will go through the 2026 Cannes Film Festival for his new film as director, A Mouthful of Ash.
