Finnish Love or the autopsy of a marriage in ruins: trailer
A comedy of manners about a couple willing to do anything to avoid divorce.
Don’t be fooled by its title, which sounds like a Christmas romantic comedy. Finnish Love – which is called in the original version Four insignificant adults (Neljä pientä aikuista) – is actually about a marriage that is failing and where divorce is avoided at all costs. A comedy of manners that leans more towards Ingmar Bergman than Julia Roberts.
The pitch announces: “Julia discovers that her husband is having an affair. To save their marriage, she suggests that they experiment with polyamory and invent new rules for their married life. A field of possible lovers then opens up to them…”
Written and directed by By Selma Vilhunen, Finnish Love brings together in the cast Eero Milonoff, Alma Pöysti and Oona Airola. Released January 3, 2004.
