After the success of Heat 2, Michael Mann writes a new novel
This book will be the first volume in a series centered on a manhunt.
While his biopic on Ferrari is about to be released on Amazon Prime Video, the cult filmmaker Michael Mann continues his literary momentum after the success of his novel Heat 2according to Deadline. Co-written by Meg Gardiner, this novel is both a prequel and a sequel to Heatreleased in 1995 at the cinema, and recounting the urban duel between a high-flying robber (Robert DeNiro) and an angry cop (Al Pacino).
The 80-year-old director’s next work will be the first volume in a crime series following a manhunt between a rebel federal agent and a highly trained stateless soldier. The source does not detail anything further for the moment.
This is the second book written by Michael Mannwho is developing the script and pre-production of the film in parallel Heat 2, adapted from his novel. Always in control of his projects from start to finish, it is not surprising that Michael Mann write, produce and direct this prequel/sequel.
Heat 2 casting is very complicated to do according to Michael Mann
We will therefore find the characters of Neil McCauley (the robber) and Vincent Hanna (the cop) younger and with different personalities than in the 1995 film. We will also follow the future of Chris Shiherlis, Neil’s young sidekick, played by Val Kilmer, after the events of the first part. As in any good story derived from a masterpiece, new characters will be introduced.
As for Ferrari, it is a dear project Michael Mannwhich marks his big comeback since Hacker in 2015 with Chris Hemsworth. Adam Driver stars as Enzo Ferrari, the founder of the legendary automobile team, and the film chronicles his struggle to maintain a balance between his deadly passion for racing and his family which is falling apart after a recent tragedy. Penelope Cruz plays the role of his wife Laura, Shailene Woodley And Patrick Dempsey are also present in the casting. Ferrari will be available from March 8, 2024 on Amazon Prime Video.
