Already 3 million admissions in France for Super Mario Galaxy, the film

Two French films complete the podium behind the box office superstar plumber.

Without much competition, Super Mario Galaxy once again dominated the French box office for its second week of release. The continuation of the cinema adventures of the famous Nintendo character attracted nearly 1.3 million curious people, bringing its total admissions to 3 million spectators. Super Mario Bros. had done a little better at the same stage three years ago ((3.4 million entries), but it’s still impressive.

The film co-produced by Illumination is already the 2nd biggest success of the year behind the Marsupilami by Philippe Lacheau, who also reappears in the top thanks to the school holidays, even offering himself an increase of +26% for his tenth week in the gym! The comedy is close to 6 million tickets sold, consolidating its position as the biggest hit of The Fifi Gang ahead of Alibi.com 2 and its 4.2 million spectators.

It is more complicated for Cocorico 2. The sequel to the comedy by Didier Bourdon and Christian Clavier takes second place in the ranking but sold just under 300,000 tickets for its first week, compared to nearly 600,000 for the first film released in 2024. In third position, Compostela (with Alexandra Lamy) completes the podium with almost 260,000 additional admissions, up 2%, and 630,000 cumulatively, a great success for the distributor Apollo Films!

There are only French or American films in the top 10 and the Zendaya-Robert Pattinson duo is doing well. Seen by half a million moviegoers, The Drama is fourth ahead of Last chance project by Ryan Gosling who is heading towards the million mark. A score that Rays and shadows risk of not reaching. Xavier Giannoli’s film on the collaboration, buoyed by its excellent word of mouth, however, only declined by 7% and has totaled 770,000 counter-brands since its release.

Besides Cocorico 2two other new products appear in the top 10: The child of the desert and its 120,000 entries on 574 copies and Wedding Nightmare: Part Two which displays a much better average (96,000 entries for 280 copies). Note that Jumpers he also took advantage of the holidays to move up to 9th place. But with 1.3 million spectators in France, it is one of the worst scores for a Pixar in France, just aboveElio and behind Buzz Lightyear.
