Ella McCay will benefit from an exceptional release in French cinemas

“I was deeply touched by the reception given to Ella McCay in France,” assures director James L. Brooks.

After its release was canceled at the start of the year, following its flop at the American box office, Ella McCay arrived directly in streaming on Disney Plus France on February 5. But, ultimately, the feel-good movie worn by Emma Mackey will have a good run in French cinemas.

20th Century Studios, the Disney subsidiary, announces that the film will be entitled to a “exceptional programming in around a hundred theaters spread across France” over two days, May 15 and 16. Director James L. Brooks will also come to Paris a few days before.

I was deeply touched by the reception given to Ella McCay in France and I am very grateful to its spectators for expressing their desire to be able to discover the film on the big screen“, declares the Oscar-winning American filmmaker for Tender passions (1983). He adds: “This release also marks a return to basics for the film’s lead actress, Emma Mackey.“.

In Ella McCay, the Franco-British actress (she is a native of Le Mans) plays an idealistic young woman who tries to pursue her political career while managing her family life. The cast also includes Jamie Lee Curtis and Woody Harrelson in the roles of his aunt and father. Trailer:
