Tamara Stepanyan’s first fiction film opened the last Locarno Festival.

Camille Cottin is everywhere at the end of 2025. Currently showing in Rembrandtwith Romain Duris, the actress will soon be the star of two other films: The children are fine by Nathan Ambrosioni (December 3 in cinemas) and The Land of Artoscheduled for release on December 31.

In The Land of Artoshe plays a French woman traveling through Armenia in the footsteps of her deceased husband, with the help of a guide, played by Zar Amir, the Iranian actress rewarded with the Interpretation Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, in 2022, for The Nights of Mashhad.

Synopsis: Céline arrives for the first time in Armenia in order to regularize the death of Arto, her husband. She discovers that he lied to her about his identity, his past and his involvement in a war that never ends. A new journey begins for her, to meet Arto’s past. A woman runs after a ghost. Can we save the dead?

Director Tamara Stepanyan surrounded herself with cinematographer Claire Mathon (a César winner for Portrait of the girl on fire) for his first fiction feature film. Known for her work in documentaries, she continues with The Land of Arto the work of memory and introspection of his previous film, My Armenian ghostsabout his father, the Armenian actor and director Viguen Stepanyan.
