The Life of a Woman will be released at the end of the summer in French cinemas. Here are the first images and the synopsis of the film by Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet.

Five years after the romantic comedy The Loves of Anaïsdirector Charline Bourgeois-Tacquet, returns with a drama for her second feature film. It’s the story of two women: one is a surgeon and the other a novelist. Their meeting will shake up the daily life of the first, whose very busy existence leaves no room for the unexpected…

The film is in competition during this 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

In the casting, we will find Léa Drucker (César for best actress for File 137) in the role of Gabrielle the surgeon, Mélanie Thierry in that of the novelist, as well as the actors Charles Berling and Laurent Capelluto. This is the first time that the two actresses are together on screen.

In The Loves of Anaïs (photo below), the filmmaker already featured a female duo. A lesbian romance set among cliffs and the sea played by Anaïs Demoustier and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi. Today, the director paints two new portraits of women, but this time against a clinical backdrop…

Synopsis: “Surgeon and head of department in a public hospital, she runs and multiplies, overwhelmed with responsibilities. She has little time left for her private life — a husband who loves her and a mother to take care of. When a novelist comes to spend a few weeks in her department for the purposes of writing a book, her balance falters. In the daily life that Gabrielle has built for herself, is there room for the unexpected?

A Woman’s Life will be released on September 9 in French theaters.
