Amy Winehouse’s soulful tone rings out in Back to Black final trailer
Alongside Amy Winehouse, we recognize the male figures who gravitated around her: Blake Fielder-Civil (Jack O’Connell) and his father (Eddie Marsan).
The biopic of the drunk British singer unveils a new – and final? – trailer, which suggests the immense potential of a star who left too soon. Back to Black traces the life and music ofAmy Winehousethrough the creation of one of the most iconic albums of all time, inspired by her passionate and tormented love story with Blake Fielder-Civil.
Registered with Mark Ronson in 2006, “Back to Black” is the hit that gave life to the singer’s best-known album – the record sold a record 3,259,100 copies worldwide. This success will also be rewarded with five Grammy Awards which will place the singer in music history. Back to Black notably became the best-selling album of the 21st century in Great Britain.
Sam Taylor-Johnson reiterates his penchant for biopics of British legends with this musical project. After Nowhere Boy (2009), biopic on John Lennon, the filmmaker wants to pay tribute to Hurricane Amythrough the traits of Marisa Abela (Rogue Agent, Industry), who appropriated the sulphurous look of a rebellious pin-up, with the emblematic sauerkraut. The actress interprets the unfortunate fate of the singer with those who will embody the men in her life, Jack O’Connell (Skins) in the role of Blake Fielder-Civil and Eddie Marsan (Deadpool 2) in that of an opportunistic father.
Back to Black will be released in theaters on April 24, 2024.
