Apple TV+ changes its name to… Apple TV

The Cupertino company has not really explained its decision.

More and less.

Apple TV+ officially becomes Apple TV.

The Apple group has officially drawn a line under the “+”. Six years after its launch, the streaming service is changing its name, to match its application and connected TV box.

The brand discreetly unveiled this shift on Monday, via a press release announcing the release of the F1 film in its catalog. We can read there:

“Apple TV+ is now simply Apple TV, with a vibrant new visual identity.”

The Cupertino company did not comment further on this decision, which therefore aligns the streaming service, the application and the hardware under the same banner.

Launched in November 2019 with The Morning Show and a first round of original creations by Hollywood stars, Apple TV+ has managed to find a place in the streaming battle against Disney, Paramount, HBO, Netflix and even Amazon. It even became the first platform to win the Oscar for best film thanks to Coda (2022).

Note that this type of rebranding is quite common. Warner Bros, for example, has changed the name of its platform several times, which was called Max recently, to (re)become HBO Max last May.
