Before Toy Story 5, Andrew Stanton directed Crossed Fates for Disney +: trailer
The director of WALL-E and Finding Nemo signs a great fresco on life.
We owe him some of the most beautiful Pixar films: Finding Nemo (2003) and WALL-E (2008). And soon he will deliver his version of Woody and Buzz in Toy Story 5undoubtedly one of the big hits of summer 2026 in theaters.
But until then, Andrew Stanton will unveil an unexpected live-action film: Crossed Destiny (In the blink of an eye), a humanist fable, carried by the excellent Rashida Jones (The Office), by Daveed Diggs (Snowpiercer) and by Kate McKinnon (barbie). This will be only his second live-action feature film, almost 15 years after the underrated John Carter (adapted by Edgar Rice Burroughs).
In this Searchlight Pictures production, from the screenplay by Colby Day (Spaceman), Andrew Stanton constructs a story over three eras, “presenting the essence of humanity throughout time. Over the millennia and intertwining destinies, one constant has remained: our desire to connect with each other and to anchor ourselves to the world in which we live.”
The trailer for Crossed Destiny has just been put online (below) and announces a release on February 27, 2026 in France and streaming on Disney+.
The synopsis details: “In the distant past, a Neanderthal family (Jorge Vargas, Tanaya Beatty) driven from their home struggles to survive, protecting their children and learning to use primitive tools in an unforgiving world. In the present day, Claire (Rashida Jones), a passionate graduate anthropologist studying the remains of proto-human ancestors, begins a tentative relationship with a fellow student, Greg (Daveed Diggs). In the 23rd century, aboard a spaceship en route to a distant planet, Coakley (KateMcKinnon) and a sentient on-board computer are confronted with a mysterious disease that threatens the oxygen-producing plants within the ship. Taking place over several thousand years, these 3 intrigues intertwine and lead us to question the notions of hope, relationships with others but also the cycle of life..”
