Brie Larson breaks free in Lessons in Chemistry trailer
Apple’s new prestige series will take us back to the 1950s, where women were confined to the kitchen… even the most brilliant scientists!
Far from the MCU and before his return among the superheroes in The Marvels, Brie Larson will be the star of a feminist show on Apple TV+ (and also Canal+ in France). In Lessons in Chemistryshe will play a brilliant scientist constantly belittled by men and who will find a way to emancipate herself and the women of her time, through a cooking show.
Series Lessons in Chemistry unfolds “in the early 1950s. Brie Larson plays Elizabeth Zott, a woman who dreams of becoming a scientist but comes up against a patriarchal society. When Elizabeth is fired from the lab where she works, she agrees to become the host of a cooking show and sets out to teach all the ignored housewives – as well as the men, who suddenly start to listen – much more than recipes.”
Lewis Pullman, Aja Naomi King, Stephanie Koenig, Kevin Sussman complete the cast.
Composed of eight episodes, the series is adapted from the novel by author, journalist and science editor Bonnie Garmus. The first two episodes of Lessons in Chemistry will be available Friday October 13, 2023 on Apple TV+, followed by a new episode every Friday until November 24, 2023.
