Chris Evans set to return in Avengers: Doomsday
The announcement is not yet official, but the former MCU Captain America is expected to be in the film as Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. will feel less alone. Chris Evans also will make his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Wrap announced today that the interpreter of Captain America for more than a decade will make his return in the next Avengers: Doomsday.
If we already know that RJD will return to play Victor Von Doom, aka Doctor Doom, we do not yet know what role will play exactly Chris Evans in this new part of the MCU. It could be the Captain or another character.
In any case, if this were to be officially confirmed, it would show that Marvel Studios indeed prefers to look to the past and its former stars to revive the MCU machine, which has been stalled for some time.
It should be remembered that Steve Rogers said goodbye in Avengers: Endgame (2019), choosing to stay in the past and grow old with Peggy Carter. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) subsequently recovered the shield and name of Captain America…
The Russo brothers will direct Avengers: Doomsdayscheduled for release in May 2026.
