Daniel Radcliffe reveals what he told his Harry Potter successor

The English actor sent a letter to the young talent who will take over from him in the HBO series.

Revelio!

Harry talks to Harry…

Guest of “Good Morning America”, Daniel Radcliffe said that he had written directly to Dominic McLaughlin, the young actor chosen to play Harry in the future Harry Potter series on HBO. The English star, inseparable from the role he played from 2001 to 2011, says he simply wanted to encourage his successor.

“I wouldn’t say that anyone who is going to play Harry needs to contact me, but I know a few people who are working on the production. I wrote to Dominic and sent him a letter, and he sent me back a very touching note.”

In the process, Daniel Radcliffe denies wanting to keep control of this iconic role and explains:

“I don’t want to be a specter in these kids’ lives, but I just wanted to write to him and say, ‘I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than mine — I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time.’ I see them in the photos and I just want to hug them. They look so young. I say to myself: ‘It’s crazy, I was in their shoes at that age.’ But it’s also incredibly touching and I hope they have a lot of fun.”

The series will feature a young cast including Lox Pratt (Draco Malfoy), Alessia Leoni (Parvati Patil), Leo Earley (Seamus Finnigan), Rory Wilmot (Neville Longbottom) and Amos Kitson (Dudley Dursley). Warner Bros. built a temporary school at Leavesden Studios for young actors to attend school during filming, which lasted almost a decade – with each season adapting a JK Rowling tome.

The Harry Potter series is expected on HBO and Max in 2027.
