‘Devastated’ Friends React to Matthew Perry’s Death

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer share their immense grief: “We’re going to take the time we need to grieve first.”

They waited for the emotion to subside a little, to give the fans time to mourn their Chandler Bing, to let the creators of Friends the place to say goodbye. And then Monday evening, 48 hours after their friend’s death Matthew Perrythe five other members of the band expressed, in turn, their immense sadness.

Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc And David Schwimmer delivered a brief joint statement to People.com. They confide:

“We are all completely devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are family. There is so much to say, but for now, we will first take the time to “it takes to grieve and deal with this unfathomable loss.”

Without opening up more than that, their sober press release concludes: “In time we will say more, as we can. But for now, our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, his friends and all those who loved him throughout the world.“
