Dwayne Johnson dressed as Maui: first look at live-action Moana
The actor admits that he wears a special costume which makes him look even more muscular.
Vaiana is everywhere at the end of the year. While Moana 2 has just been released in cinemas and is preparing to make a historic hit, Disney is already putting a piece back into the Pacific machine, with the live-action film.

If The Rock is renowned for his Dantesque musculature, he admitted in an interview with Extra that he wears for the film Moana a special costume which gives him an even more robust appearance, to approach the cartoonish one of Maui:
“It’s a costume that takes me a long time to put on“precise Dwayne Johnson. “So I’m very happy that people think I’ve gained muscle when they see these photos. Because that means no one can notice that I’m wearing a muscle suit.”
It should be noted that Maui also has dozens of tattoos on his chest, arms and back, which are much easier to reproduce via a costume. “That’s a few hours a day of transformation, to put that on my back...”
The live-action remake of Moana will be released in US theaters on July 10, 2026.
