First trailer for Legally Blonde prequel series
Elle Woods’ youth, before Harvard.
Between 90s pop nostalgia and unapologetic teen drama, Elle intends to tell the story of how the iconic Elle Woods was born, before Harvard.
Prime Video has revealed the first trailer for Elle, the prequel series to Legally Blonde, as well as its first official images. The series will be available from July 1.
This time, the story goes back well before the events of the cult 2001 film and it is Lexi Minetree, who succeeds Reese Witherspoon in the role which has become iconic.
According to the official synopsis, the series will show Elle Woods still a teenager, navigating complicated friendships, forbidden romance and sometimes questionable clothing choices.
“Before she finds herself a fish out of water at Harvard. We meet her in 1995, as a fish in the turbulent waters of high school, where she faces complicated friendships, forbidden romance, and questionable fashion choices. Through it all, she leans on her family and forms an even stronger bond with her mother, proving that they can overcome anything life throws at them as long as they are “There for each other, with each challenge she takes on, she gets closer and closer to the Elle Woods we know and love today.” details the synopsis.
The cast also includes June Diane Raphael as her mother Eva and Tom Everett Scott as her father Wyatt. We will also find Chandler Kinney, Zac Looker, Amy Pietz, Logan Shroyer and the late James Van Der Beek.
The series is created by Laura Kittrell (Insecure), with Caroline Dries (The Vampire Diaries) executive producing. Reese Witherspoon is also involved in the project as executive producer.
The first two episodes were directed by Jason Moore, the director of Pitch Perfect.
She, from the world of Legally Blonde, will be available on Prime Video on July 1st.
