Season 2 of Peacemaker Continue to impress us every week on HBO Max. And the recent episode has just introduced a direct link with the next Superman: Man of Tomorrow. And it is James Gunn who says it!

Attention spoilers!

The cameo is big: Nicholas Hoult resumes his role as Lex Luthor, just three months after the release of Superman in the cinema. In the series, Rick Flag Sr. (interpreted by Frank Grillo) visits Lex in Belle Reve prison and concludes a market with him to help him find Peacemaker. The billionaire is still furious to have been arrested while trying to “Protect the earth from metahumans“So after Lex, are we going to see Clark and David Corenswet in the series?

“No“Responds to Variety James Gunn, who explains in the process:

“”David was even very frustrated that Nick was in the series and not him. But I needed Lex for a specific reason. And what Lex and Rick Flag are preparing will have a direct impact on an aspect of Man of Tomorrow. Their relationship could become a serious threat to Superman and all meta-humans.. “

In other words, season 2 of Peacemaker already prepares the field of the film which will be released on July 9, 2027 at the cinema

And for good reason: Gunn wrote this season 2 at the same time as his first film Superman. All this being part of his broad plan to for the DC Universe that he builds.

“I knew where I wanted to take the story of Lex. I had already presented to David Zaslav (CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery) my overall vision for the DC Universe, before even taking the job at DC Studios: there will be such a film, such a series, then such a other film, and all this will be overcome. Some things like Clayface have happened, others were more complicated to do, But the guideline remains clear.

Clear, Peacemaker is a centerpiece in the narrative puzzle of the new DC universe. Better to take Christopher Smith more seriously than he looks.
