Isabelle Huppert takes an initiatory journey in Sidonie in Japan (trailer)
It is directed by Elise Girard, director of Funny Birds.
For his next role, Isabelle Huppert slips into the skin of Sidonie Perceval, in Sidonia in Japan. She plays a French writer in full mourning for her husband (August Diehl). She then went to Japan as part of a reissue of one of her works and was welcomed by her Japanese publisher in person (Tsuyoshi Ihara) who will also be the intermediary between Sidonie and the Japanese philosophy of life.
The trailer plays on the clash of cultures, with Sidonie first feeling a sense of rejection then gradually discovering how to heal through this spiritual journey. The trailer even reveals to us an element of the film from the fantasy genre, since the character will dialogue with the ghost of her late husband, accompanying him on his journey.
Japan and its culture fascinate international cinema, always conducive to contemplative films. This is how it looks Sidonia in Japandirected by Elise Girardin cinemas on April 3, 2024.
