It: Welcome to Derry will have a season 2 in the 1930s

The nightmare is not over. HBO has officially renewed It: Welcome to Derry for a second season, which will take another leap into the past to explore Derry in the 1930s.

Pennywise hasn’t stopped haunting Derry.

HBO has officially renewed It: Welcome to Derry for a season 2, after the success of the first burst of episodes.

Produced by Warner Bros. Television and imagined by Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the series is already among the four best global audiences in the history of HBO Max.

And this new season will continue to go back in time. After exploring a first period of Derry’s history, the series will this time head towards the 1930s, confirming its ambition to tell the different manifestations of the creature over the decades.

Brad Caleb Kane will be the showrunner of this second season, still with Andy and Barbara Muschietti involved in the project.

“We’re thrilled to return to the chilling world of Derry and further expand on Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s cult and terrifying adaptation,” said Sarah Aubrey, director of original programming at HBO Max. “Along with Brad Caleb Kane, they will explore new horizons in this second season, deepening the terror, mystery and unforgettable legend of Pennywise that fans love.”

The first season, consisting of eight episodes, is currently available on HBO Max. And if Derry changes eras, one thing shouldn’t change: Pennywise will still be there.
