James Gunn is already writing the sequel to his DC Universe after Superman: Man of Tomorrow
While the Superman sequel hasn’t even been released yet, James Gunn is already working on his next DC film.
James Gunn is not one to sit around and twiddle his thumbs.
While Superman: Man of Tomorrow will not be released until July 7, 2027 in theaters in France, the boss of DC Studios revealed on Threads that he was already writing his next film – without specifying what it is exactly.
An Internet user asked him if he was ready to get back to writing or if he planned to wait a little longer. Gunn’s response:
“I’m already there. I had to do something while waiting for the assembly!“
The director also confirmed that the first cut of Superman: Man of Tomorrow was finished. He announced in August that the filming of the film was officially completed.
This sequence of Superman will see David Corenswet reprise the role of the Man of Steel. And this time, Superman will have to team up with his adversary Lex Luthor, still played by Nicholas Hoult, to face an even more formidable threat: Brainiac, the super-intelligent antagonist played by Lars Eidinger.
It remains to be seen what this famous next film will be on which James Gunn is already working. A priori, it should be The Brave and the Boldthe official DCU film which will introduce its own version of Batman and which is planned for release in late 2028 or 2029.
