Just an illusion: best start since Intouchables for Toledano and Nakache

The nostalgic comedy with Louis Garrel and Camille Cottin is a hit for its first day in theaters.

Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano have found their mojo again. After the small failure of their previous film, A difficult yearwhich had failed to cross the million entry mark, the duo is already assured of success with Just an illusiontheir new comedy carried by Louis Garrel, Camille Cottin and Pierre Lottin.

With 80,000 spectators for its first day of operation, and 138,000 counting the previews, the two directors even signed their best start since… Untouchables. Buoyed by good reviews and excellent feedback from the public, Juste une illusion has all the cards in hand to make a great career in theaters.

Behind, the pleasant surprise comes from Fight. The crazy comedy with Nassim Lyes attracted 26,000 curious people excluding AVP, with the second best average per copy of new releases. A great performance for the first cinema outing of young director Julien Royal (Passing by).

The Mummy Awakens by Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise) completes the podium, with 20,000 tickets sold, ahead of the new film by Gus van Sant, The Rope around the neck and its 8000 entries. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die however, did not find its audience. Only 1,800 people went to see Gore Verbinski’s film at the cinema this Wednesday.
