Keanu Reeves on the way to a new LEGO movie
Time is running out for Universal: the studio, which currently holds the rights to the yellow bricks, wants to launch a film within six months, before its license expires. And he’s betting everything on the hero of The Matrix.

According to information from VarietyKeanu Reeves is in talks to join a new, as-yet-untitled LEGO movie, directed by Oscar-winning director Josh Cooley. Toy Story 4.
The project will mark the reunion between the two men, after their collaboration on the Pixar film in which Reeves dubbed the character of stuntman Duke Caboom.
It is not yet known which character Keanu Reeves would play and it is unknown whether the actor will appear on screen or if he will simply lend his voice to a character.
Because this new opus, developed by Universal Pictures, the feature film is described as a hybrid mixing live action and computer-generated image animation. No details about the story, the screenwriter or the rest of the cast have yet been revealed.
However, the studio is pressed for time. According to DeadlineUniversal would like to launch a LEGO film in the next six months before its rights to the license expire. If this new project does not succeed, the license could be put on the market again.
The LEGO cinematic adventure began at Warner Bros. with The Great LEGO Adventure in 2014, a huge critical and commercial success which gave birth to a franchise exceeding a billion dollars in global box office revenue thanks to films like Lego Batman, the movieand also The Great LEGO Adventure 2 or even Lego Ninjago, the movie. But after the poor performance of these last two opuses, Warner let the rights to the brand expire, which have since been recovered by Universal. It now remains to be seen whether Keanu Reeves will be the one to relaunch the LEGO machine on the big screen.
