Virginie Efira and Niels Schneider reunited in a new Disney+ series
The French star will reunite with the creator of Tout va bien pour Cancel.
A few weeks after winning the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for Suddenly by Ryūsuke Hamaguchi, Virginie Efira is preparing to make her return to the small screen. The actress will star alongside her companion since 2018, Niels Schneider, in a new original French mini-series for Disney+.
Filming for Cancel has just started.
Created by Camille de Castelnau, to whom we already owe Tout va bien on Disney+, already with Virginie Efira, the series will take the form of a psychological thriller diving behind the scenes of the media world.
The actress will play Solange Marni, a television presenter adored by the general public, caught in the cogs of a media downfall and confronted with her own ambiguities. Opposite her, Niels Schneider will play Gabriel Roche, a young journalist whose investigation will change his life.
This is not the first time that the two actors have met on screen. They had already shared the poster for An Impossible Love by Catherine Corsini in 2018, then Sibyl by Justine Triet in 2019. On the other hand, this is their first collaboration in a series.
“French people’s favorite personality, Solange Marni hosts a daily television show where guests talk about significant experiences. A true star, she has remained close to her audience thanks to her sense of listening and her empathy. Until the day when Gabriel Roche, an ambitious young journalist, publishes an investigation into her toxic behavior… Three years later, when Solange has changed her life, she finds Gabriel at her home. On the occasion of the release of her book, she grants him an exclusive interview. Between them a disturbing, sensual, almost dangerous power play takes place… What happened three years earlier? Who is Solange really, a predator, a victim or both? details the synopsis.
The mini-series is directed by brothers Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma, to whom we owe Their Children After Them, and is co-produced by Maui Entertainment (Éric Rochant and Vanessa Fourgeaud) and Petit Ermitage Production (Camille de Castelnau).
No release date has yet been announced by Disney+.
